What is the Specification Wizard?
The specification wizard is a programme designed for architects and designers to produce a joinery schedule detailing information required for each product (sizes, glass, ironmongery etc). On finishing the schedule, ultimately the builder knows what brickwork sizes to form, the manufacturer knows what is required, and the installer knows where each window is located as there are normally different specifications on different windows. The wizard guides you through each question with a help button, giving building regulations, drawings, pictures or just general information.
How to use the wizard.
The wizard asks you for information on the project / development and the window type you require. Some information may not be needed, but it is used to check building regulations. The schedule builds a set of grid lines filled by the information you have answered.
A help button is always available to give information on the question being asked. The help section gives basic information or if required goes into further technical information. If a previous answer needs to be changed, it can be amended by using the "back" button.
After the first set of questions have been answered the subsequent product (if the same) will default to the last answer provided for each question. If required the default can be easily changed to any of the alternative options within the set parameters.
Once complete, the wizard generates a document containing all of the information that you have provided which we will then send to you in a format that can be edited using Microsoft Excel.
Recommendations
We recommend you start on the lowest floor working up the building.
If there is more than one block on the development do not start on the other block until you have finished the first.
If your project has a large quantity of windows consider splitting the wizard into floors, blocks or by street elevations. This can be done by starting a new wizard from scratch and giving it a different name.
